Data Center Consulting Services – Confidential Banking Authority
Henderson Engineers and our sister company, Henderson Building Solutions, were entrusted with upgrading a mission critical data center for a national banking authority client. Prioritizing uptime, our team developed a comprehensive plan to enhance redundancy, efficiency, and operational reliability.
The project began by bridging the gap between our client’s facilities and information technology (IT) teams. To achieve this, we developed a data center integrated management (DCIM) plan, which established a standardized framework for collaboration between the two groups. This approach ensured a unified source of truth for asset management, power, cooling, and future planning.
Once the DCIM plan was complete, a master plan identifying opportunities to improve data center efficiency was developed. The master plan included capital improvements, deferred maintenance, code updates, TIA 142 conformances, physical/space updates, and operational enhancements.
With the master plan complete, our team of engineers was ready to start the project execution process. Our scope of services included electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire and life safety, security, sustainability, and telecom. The project involved eliminating single points of failure through EPO removal, dividing colocation space for multiple end-users, deploying new rack standards, replacing CRAHs, reorganizing hot and cold aisles to improve efficiency, upgrading power distribution units (PDUs), redundant RPPs, and in-rack STS replacements. Additionally, we installed a modular, redundant chiller plant to enhance resilience, implemented structured cable tray and rack grounding, and constructed new decom, office, and server assembly rooms. Henderson Building Solutions provided comprehensive commissioning services by conducting thorough testing and verification of electrical, mechanical, and critical infrastructure systems, aligning with design objectives and operational requirements.
The outcome was a more fault-tolerant, energy-efficient, and scalable data center that enables our client to make informed business decisions. With improved capacity planning, extended equipment life spans, and reduced operating costs, the upgraded data center is positioned to support critical operations well into the future.
At Henderson Engineers, we are committed to delivering strategic engineering solutions that enhance the functionality and resilience of mission-critical facilities.
