Henderson Engineers partnered with our client in their bid to purchase and upgrade an existing data center into a high-performance facility. With over six million people in the state and a rapidly expanding tech sector, Kansas City has quickly become a hub for data center operators in the United States. The goal was to squeeze every ounce of potential out of the existing infrastructure while laying the groundwork for future upgrades. Henderson took the existing 36,200 SF of critical space with a 4.4MW power density and transformed it into a facility ready for up to 50MW, along with a new building addition.
Our approach maximized the existing infrastructure while paving the way for future scalability. By reusing as much of the current setup as possible, we gave the facility a fresh start without reinventing the wheel. Key upgrades include converting the 2N topology to N+1 and conducting a deep dive into the raised access floor (RAF) and its structural integrity. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling helped optimize airflow, ensuring the facility ran cool, calm, and collected.
With their upgraded data center designs, Henderson has set this client up with the blueprint to move forward confidently, backed by smart design and plenty of room to grow.
