Net Zero Carbon Manufacturing Facility – Viega
Located on an 80-acre site, Viega’s new manufacturing plant represents a major investment in sustainable infrastructure and domestic production. By expanding manufacturing in the United States, the company is reducing carbon emissions associated with international shipping while strengthening its supply chain and logistics operations. The facility will operate as a carbon neutral plant from day one and supports Viega’s long-term goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions across all facilities by 2035.
Henderson Engineers provided sustainability consulting for the new facility, helping align the project with Viega’s long-term carbon reduction strategy while supporting resilient industrial and mission critical operations. During the early planning and design phases, Henderson partnered with the Viega ownership team to evaluate strategies that would enable a net-zero operational carbon facility.
Our team analyzed multiple pathways to reduce operational emissions and support long-term facility performance. This included demand-side energy reduction strategies such as energy conservation measures that lower greenhouse gas emissions and improve building efficiency. We also evaluated supply-side solutions including on-site and off-site solar power generation, on-site energy storage systems, and financing strategies that support both short-term implementation and long-term capital planning.
Through this integrated approach, Henderson Engineers helped position the facility as a high-performance manufacturing and logistics environment that supports sustainability goals while strengthening operational reliability and energy resilience.
