For nearly two decades,AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, a member of AdventHealth System, has relied on Henderson Engineers to help create spaces that support seamless patient care, including building system designs for their $100 million, seven-story critical care expansion that included a new emergency department, surgery suites, intensive care units, and cardiac care units. The second phase of this project was a $14.9 million build-out of the top two floors to add 66 new patient beds. Henderson was also the building systems engineer forAdventHealth Shawnee Mission’s $30 million, four-story birth center expansion. So when AdventHealth decided to expand their service offerings across Kansas City, they called us to design a new emergency department and imaging center. This project, the first of a multi-phase campus project, allows us to infuse a fresh perspective for a long time client.
