For the city of Austin, authenticity is key. When fans walk in to the new Q2 Stadium for an Austin FC game, a memorable, genuinely enjoyable experience comes to life. The energy seems to pulse through the crowd, enhanced by the intentional design of the venue. Henderson Engineers worked alongside the owner, city, and design team to deliver this world-class stadium. As part of the unique goals for Austin, we worked to help incorporate storm water capture/re-use in the systems design. Through innovative initiatives in collaboration with the owner’s goals, we ensured the stadium is ready to adapt to the ever-changing venue technology. This includes public DAS and WiFi systems throughout to boost connectivity and offer access to stadium technology features, a large LED videoboard, and interactive ribbon panel technology. Henderson helped Q2 Stadium become the first Major League Soccer stadium to install an entire field lighting system of tunable RGB LED lights. Achieving LEED Gold Certification, the impact of Q2 Stadium stretches far beyond game day. It is a year-round, multi-purpose venue and enhances the City’s North Burnet Gateway project — Austin’s second downtown.
