Children’s Mercy Medical Center is passionate about the health and well-being of children and understands that hospitals can be overwhelming, intimidating spaces to them (and adults). When Children’s Mercy was ready to renovate its gift shop, they envisioned a vibrant, welcoming space where children and adults alike could temporarily forget about illness.   Children’s Mercy turned to Henderson Engineers to create a unique and fun environment that utilized unique lighting and building system designs throughout. Henderson’s architectural lighting design experts incorporated fanciful sound and lighting into a themed sales area, which also featured video images projected on the soffits. The distinctive design also included an interactive video projection system on the sales floor and a custom-design, wave-like ceiling showcasing specialty lighting that created a feeling of movement.
