HEI Project Profile - Long
Johnson County Community College is one of the largest institutions in Kansas. When they needed to do significant infrastructure improvements for eight campus buildings, they chose Henderson Engineers and Henderson Building Solutions for our holistic, single source capabilities. The client’s primary goals for this project were to enhance the chilled water system, replace variable air volume boxes, upgrade the air handling system, and ensure better performance that translated to energy savings. We used surveys and on-site assessments to pinpoint trouble spots throughout the systems. Using the information collected, we delivered a report summarizing our findings and solutions — immediately implementing no-cost or low-cost improvements directly related to energy usage and comfort. We then managed the rest of the improvements and commissioned them for quality. A combination of detailed construction documents and our competitive bid process enabled us to deliver the project under budget. The team worked with facility staff to re-purpose the excess funds to improve other areas of the campus.
