At Henderson, we’re more than a partner for the life of your building, we’re a partner to your district. Our relationship with Lawrence Public Schools USD 497 for the last 18 years is a testament to our commitment to their growth, indefinitely. As part of the last $92.5 million bond projects, Lawrence Public Schools USD 497 looked to Henderson to complete the systems design at nine schools and one college and career center. These projects improved school facilities, enhanced technology district wide, and expanded career and technical education opportunities for students. The current bond features work at Lawrence High School, Lawrence Free State High School, West Middle School, Liberty Memorial Central Middle School, South Middle School, and Southwest Middle School. Lawrence High School received a complete renovation and a large addition while Free State High School received interior renovations, classroom addition, and an athletic addition. West Middle School will get a full major mechanical retrofit, lighting retrofit to LED, and media center, learning pocket, and classroom renovations. Liberty Memorial Central, South, and Southwest Middle Schools are also slated for lighting retrofit to LED with media center, learning pocket, and classroom renovations. Under this contract Henderson designed one for one replacements for LED lighting across multiple schools which included upgrading toggle switch controls to occupancy based on programmable relay controls. Scope also included retrofitting mechanical systems from aged multizone DX equipment to high efficiency VRF with gas heat dedicated outside air for upgraded ventilation in learning spaces. Numerous AHU replacements and control upgrades were also made across multiple schools.
