HEI Project Profile - Long
The Football Locker Room & Hydrotherapy Renovation at Virginia Tech University focused on modernizing the existing hydrotherapy suite, restroom, and shower areas within the Jamerson Athletic Facility. A key priority for the university was enhancing the lighting design to maximize flexibility and support optimal use by athletes. Henderson Engineers led the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) design for this renovation, working within a highly constrained space with numerous existing systems that were to remain in place. The team demonstrated strong coordination and attention to detail by thoroughly documenting existing conditions and carefully integrating new systems - successfully preserving ceiling heights and maintaining the overall aesthetic. During the exploratory phase, Henderson also identified underlying issues contributing to poor air quality in areas adjacent to the hydrotherapy suite. These issues were resolved through the new design, improving the overall environment for facility users.
