Henderson Leverages 55 Years of Design and Construction Data to Launch Strategic Consulting

LENEXA, Kan. — Henderson Companies, the parent company of Henderson Engineers and Henderson Building Solutions, has launched a new service that will help clients make informed capital investment and operational decisions using building performance data and decades of institutional expertise. Henderson’s Strategic Consulting service engages owners, architects, general contractors, financial institutions, and other key project stakeholders early in the planning process to help determine where and when to invest resources that will maximize the lifecycle value of these assets. The service is geared toward large scale building portfolios, whether on a single campus or across multiple locations. This includes higher education, healthcare, data center, hospitality, retail, and industrial facilities. The Strategic Consulting process consists of three integrated phases:
  • Capture – Collecting and gathering building data.
  • Analyze – Examining performance data to uncover meaningful insights.
  • Advise – Delivering data-driven, step-by-step recommendations to meet business goals.
Regardless of whether a project involves new construction or renovations, the Strategic Consulting team stays engaged during design, build-out, and well beyond occupancy, providing ongoing guidance to support long-term facility performance, maintenance, and management. “Henderson has worked on virtually all commercial building types across the US and internationally since we were founded in 1970, giving us extensive proprietary data into what enables buildings to operate to their fullest potential,” said Kevin Lewis, CEO and president of Henderson Engineers and president of Henderson Companies. “Our industry traditionally becomes involved in projects long after capital planning and funding decisions have been made, which often limits our clients from fully benefiting from our experience. Strategic Consulting changes that model by allowing us to add value across the entire building lifecycle.” The service is led by Herbert Els, who brings more than 24 years of industry experience, including over a decade in senior leadership roles at one of the nation’s three largest engineering firms. “Today’s building owners and operators are more focused than ever on using performance data to drive operational and strategic decisions,” said Els. “Factors like sustainability, energy efficiency, technology integration, and long-term operational strategies are now central considerations. Our Strategic Consulting team is eager to partner with clients before, during, and long after construction to help them maximize the value and performance of their facilities.”
