Creating Experiences that Matter at SoFi Stadium

From concept to completion, SoFi Stadium prioritized enhancing the fan experience and creating a space where athletes, performers, and events can shine. The project team worked in tandem strengthening our client relationships and pushing the standard for excellence across the industry when it comes to innovative and sustainable solutions.  Every decision was guided by client needs and expectations, allowing us to create an environment that changed the game day experience and resonates with fans ranging from the Chargers to Swifties.

During the stadium’s redevelopment, we   collaborated with clients during each phase to facilitate an understanding of functionality and aesthetic expectations for the stadium. This level of collaboration and initiative to ask the right questions, allowed the team to adapt seamlessly to meet specific client preferences. As a result, our team was able to support the immense demands of the 3.1 million square feet stadium, providing support through mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, security, and telecom systems. The engineering team also designed and integrated advanced audio-visual and lighting systems, creating an immersive environment that enhances fan experience from the stands to the field. The client-driven detail even extended into premium sections of the stadium such as the design for VIP areas, club spaces, and the press box, while also allowing the team to transform spaces like concessions, locker rooms, and the underground parking structure, which contributed to making the stadium a world-class entertainment venue.

Building With A Purpose

Every decision was driven by a commitment to meet and exceed client’s priorities for sustainable, energy-efficient design. Team Henderson led the way by performing a micro-climate analysis; a life cycle analysis of energy sources and building systems; and LED lighting pay back analysis to ensure that the stadium met California’s Title 24 and Cal Green energy efficiency requirements. These strategies reduced energy consumption and optimized bowl cooling to enhance fan comfort within the stadium’s open-air design. The stadium’s transparent canopy, made from sustainable fluorine-based plastic, minimized environment impact by allowing natural light to fill the stadium while sheltering fans from direct sunlight, reflecting Henderson’s promise to provide thoughtful, sustainable solutions that align with the client’s goals. With customized designs, proactive problem-solving, and a comprehensive range of services,  the stadium elevates the client’s vision by creating a versatile, multi-purpose venue that comfortably hosts up to 70,000 fans while making a positive impact on the environment.
