HEI Project Profile - Long
Arizona Western College set out to create a dedicated Law Enforcement Training Academy that brings classroom learning and hands-on training together in one modern facility. Located on the existing campus, the new academy supports a wide range of instructional and practical training needs, from multipurpose classrooms and defensive tactics space to an indoor 10-lane shooting range and outdoor driving and physical aptitude areas. The program also includes practical application rooms with full perimeter impact protection, secure equipment and ammunition storage, a firearms cleaning area, and support spaces for students and faculty. Designed to fit seamlessly within the surrounding campus context, the facility was planned with flexibility in mind to allow for future expansion as the program continues to grow. Henderson Engineers developed building systems that support the academy’s specialized training environments. Our team coordinated closely with the local utility provider to design a new electrical service that meets the facility’s performance demands. This collaboration helped ensure the infrastructure could reliably support high-intensity training spaces while remaining efficient and easy to maintain. By focusing on practical, durable system solutions, Henderson helped create a facility that supports day-to-day operations while providing a safe, functional environment for both instructors and students.
