The Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) Community Education, Health and Wellness Center (CEHWC) is designed to meet the holistic needs of the downtown community and eastern Wyandotte County. The state-of-the-art center will offer health, wellness and education services that will elevate the community. The CEHWC is a collaborative project between Kansas City Kansas Community College, Community America Credit Union, and Swope Health. The college spaces include administrative offices, shared community meeting rooms, art gallery, and classroom spaces. KCKCC educational spaces encompass a variety of disciplines. An Art Studio classroom wraps around the north end of the building. The tech lab building is a separate volume which houses the construction technology and automation technology programs. Students in construction technology will gain valuable market skills in commercial and residential construction. The automation technology program includes curriculum in the areas of robotics, motor controls, machining, and welding. Additional curriculum spaces include dedicated lab spaces for the biology and biomanufacturing programs, including laboratory prep rooms, culture, and microscopy spaces. Community America Credit Union will occupy a 3,500 SF branch credit union location on the first floor. Swope Health will occupy the entire fourth floor, offering women’s and children’s health services and dental care. Henderson provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design services for this project.
