Multi-Agency Laboratory Campus – State of Missouri
The State of Missouri agencies are getting an upgrade in Jefferson City. Previously located across different aging buildings, the Missouri Public Health Laboratory, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Environment Services Program Laboratory, the Department of Conservation Laboratory, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol Forensic Crime Laboratory are moving to a new laboratory campus. The new, modern facility will enhance departmental collaboration to better serve the public for years to come.
Henderson Engineers is providing audio-video, security, and telecom services, designed to integrate seamlessly with other building systems for a comfortable, secure environment. Our robust security system includes access control, surveillance, and chain-of-custody tracking, ensuring the integrity of sensitive lab work and data and is tailored to the unique needs of the facility.
The state-of-the-art laboratory campus will include wet and dry diagnostic laboratories, advanced crime laboratories to support forensic investigations, along with a dedicated necropsy facility. In addition, the campus will feature biosafety lab 2 (BSL-2) suites and highly specialized venues equipped for forensic biology, chemistry, molecular biology, bacteriology, and combined DNA index system (CODIS) operations, ensuring a full spectrum of capabilities for scientific and investigative work.
By consolidating these critical resources into one modern facility, Missouri is strengthening its ability to protect public health and safety for years to come. This collaborative environment will streamline operations, accelerate research, improve response times, and enhance the accuracy of testing and investigations. These improvements will ultimately contribute to healthier communities and a safer future for residents across the state.
