3/9/2026 write up (with list) Focused on evolving alongside its fans, Gillette Stadium has undergone continuous enhancements to preserve its electric game-day atmosphere and elevate the overall experience. As one of the selected venues for FIFA World Cup 2026™, Gillette Stadium is recognized among an elite group of stadiums chosen to host the world's largest sporting event, further reinforcing its status as a premier destination for sports and entertainment. Henderson Engineers has been a trusted partner in this evolution, contributing to some of the venue’s most impactful renovations – ranging from premium fan spaces to large-scale stadium modernization and team facilities. Henderson supported upgrades to the Owner’s Suite and Optum Field Lounge. The Owner’s Suite field wall glazing was replaced with a nano-wall system, allowing the space to open to the exterior while maintaining radiant heating and air conditioning. The members-only Optum Field Lounge, located in the South End Zone, provides on-field access and enhanced viewing through integrated lighting, acoustics, and technology systems. Henderson also supported upgrades to team spaces, including the New England Patriots’ Locker Rooms, with system improvements focused on comfort and performance. Enhancements include dedicated exhaust at each locker to improve air quality and remove odors. The most significant modernization effort to date is the $250 million North End Zone Renovation, the largest upgrade to Gillette Stadium since its original opening. Henderson provided comprehensive engineering services for this transformation, which introduced a new curved-radius, 22,200-SF high-definition videoboard – the largest of its kind in American sports – as well as the iconic 22-story Lighthouse. The Lighthouse features a 360-degree observation deck and dynamic colorchanging lighting, along with a snow-melt system to ensure year-round accessibility. Additional North End Zone improvements include the reimagined Enel Plaza and the 50,000-SF A-P Atrium, a flexible premium club and event space overlooking the field. Henderson’s audio-visual and electrical teams developed power, controls, and performance criteria for the videoboard, which was installed in carefully phased construction to accommodate the stadium’s year-round event schedule. Henderson Engineers has been a part of the team that’s helped complete many of these changes. Taking a look at fan experience and feedback each year, enhancements have included everything from patron comfort additions in the upper bowl such as wind protection, radiant heat, circulation fans, and lighting to the addition of more televisions and speakers throughout the venue. In the Owner’s Suite, field wall glazing was replaced by a nano-wall system, allowing the suite to open up to the exterior while still enjoying radiant heat and air conditioning .Larger renovations have included the addition of a new fan experience lounge, The Optum Field Lounge, hailed as one of the best fan experiences on the East Coast. Located in the South End Zone, this members-only space delivers the ultimate on-field view of the game. Changes have also been made to enhance the team spaces, including updating the engineering systems that serve the Patriots’ locker room to make it more comfortable for the team. Knowing it’s not just the Patriots gameday locker room, but also their day-to-day space, our team designed a dedicated locker exhaust system within each locker to force odors from the space.
