2016 RENOVATION The Surprise Stadium Spring Training Facility in serves as the seasonal home for both the Kansas City Royals and the Texas Rangers. To meet the evolving needs of Major League and Minor League Baseball operations, the facility underwent a renovation and expansion focused on modernizing and improving functionality within the existing footprint. The upgrades to the two clubhouses were designed to enhance the player, coach, and staff experience while positioning the complex for future growth and adaptation to the ever-changing standards of professional baseball. Henderson Engineers provided comprehensive engineering services for the renovation and expansion, supporting the city and both teams in achieving a balance between programmatic needs, timing, and budget. The team focused on integrating updated building systems into the existing infrastructure. Close coordination between internal disciplines, the design team, and the client ensured technical challenges were resolved efficiently and the project goals were met. FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES Henderson continues to be engaged with the stadium as discussions for further renovations move forward. Both teams have outgrown their current facilities and are exploring options for another round of expansion and modernization. Once underway, the new phase will mirror the successful approach of the original project completed in 2016, emphasizing efficiency, collaboration, and long-term flexibility.
