Several Henderson Projects Earn KC Business Journal Capstone Awards
- Kansas City Art Institute Barbara Marshall Residence Hall – Kansas City, Mo.
A 244-bed student housing facility that is home to the institute’s first student union and two dining establishments. The new residence hall is geared toward attracting undergraduate students to the college, which has been in operation for more than 130 years.
- Kansas City Art Institute Paul & Linda DeBruce Hall – Kansas City, Mo.
A two-story, 18,000 square foot educational building with classrooms, administrative offices, and leisure spaces. Houses several key departments including art history, creative writing, entrepreneurial studies, liberal arts, and student services.
Community Impact- Loews Convention Center Hotel – Kansas City, Mo.
An 800-room establishment that is the first full-service hotel to open in downtown Kansas City in more than three decades.
- The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah Renovation – Overland Park, Kan.
A religious institution that is home to one of the country’s oldest Reform Jewish Congregations. Building upgrades include a new gathering hall, expanded social hall and chapel, a new small prayer space, redesigned offices for staff, and enhanced security and technology – all substantially funded through donations and grants.
- The UG and The Merc Co+op Grocery Store – Kansas City, Kan.
A community-owned grocery store providing healthy, high quality food to a previously underserved area. Plans to bring a supermarket to the neighborhood had been in the works for more than 40 years.
Office- Avenue 82 – Overland Park, Kan.
A 70,000 square foot office building; the first of its kind in rapidly developing downtown Overland Park. Key amenities include an art gallery, double-height lobby, event space, and an outdoor deck.
Special Judges’ Category – Public Health- Johnson County Medical Examiner Facility – Olathe, Kan.
A 33,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility supporting death investigations countywide.
