Smith Shares Henderson, KC Sports Venue Proficiency on 41 Action News
Henderson Engineers President and CEO Rich Smith was interviewed by 41 Action News reporter Steven Dial about the contributions of numerous Kansas City-based engineering and architecture firms at venues that have hosted the NFL championship game.
Henderson’s venue experts have completed work on four stadiums that have held an NFL title matchup.
“We do the building systems in the stadium to enhance the on-field performance, but also the fan experience as well,” Smith said. “It’s incredibly rewarding because it is hard work and it’s years in the making. To be able to celebrate it and watch it on TV or be there in-person is even better.”
Smith is active in KC Global Design and KC Rising, two Kansas City Area Development Council (KCADC) initiatives aimed at raising Kansas City’s profile as a global center of excellence and a destination for talent in engineering, architecture, and design technology. Dating back to the early 1970s, Kansas City has become a global epicenter for sports engineering and architecture with multiple firms completing work on leading facilities throughout the professional and collegiate athletics landscape.
